unhinged
we are.
completely.
utterly.
unhinged.
think of a door. a door swings on an axis. it moves this way. that way. but always with a base direction. it can move left, right, open, closed. but it always moves this way or that way of the hinge.
we have so much information. instantly. available.
whether the information is true or is not true is no longer something that seems to matter.
we take this bit. we take that bit. we blend them together into what we want them to mean.
truth. actual truth. is not really a thing anymore.
you like widget x? you can find every report out there that supports you.
you dont like widget x? you can support that too.
there are not facts anymore. there is simply not a hinge.
and that is what will end this nation. the simple undeniable truth that we can believe, think, have whatever we want.
common sense is no longer a thing.
it is simple really. it is just the fall of Rome happening again.
thats all it is.
when a culture disregards common sense. when they turn their collective back on the actual truth of things. well. thats going to be the end.
i dont know how long it takes.
i dont know who takes over.
i doubt it will happen in my lifetime.
but mark my words. this is ending.
we are so spoiled. so completely wrecked as a people.
simply for our lack of respect for common sense. simply for allowing ourselves to fall away from what actually matters. those two simple things.
and we are unhinged.
we no longer swing on an axis. unhinged.
by the way. in case you are wondering, the axis, the hinge. it is the center point of right versus wrong.
but when you refuse to believe that you need forgiveness for your wrongs; who cares about that axis anymore?
again. that sentence is why this culture will end. we are so self justified that we do not any longer believe in anything beyond ourselves by and large. the oldest cultures on this planet are the ones that we consider to be extreme in our spoiled little world. the ones that hold singular beliefs to their core. we dont do that anymore; lest we offend somebody.
it is making us weak. it is making us choose poorly. it is making us incapable of finding any common ground on any one choice as a nation.
We are getting weak. daily. we are becoming a nation that has forgotten its roots. we have forgotten a life before iphones, electricity, power tools, gas pipelines, and all of the other things that we enjoy today. who of you could really survive tomorrow without gasoline or electricity? i could. i can think of maybe six other people. we have become weak. and there are tons of other people on this planet who are not so weak. millions of people who have not become so spoiled.
and that weakness will be our downfall.
the unhinging of our common sense. the loss of pure grit in our society. the simple metaphor of just enjoying black coffee. no sugar. no cream. black coffee as it is. taking life as it comes.
decades of management has taught me two things. people will perform for you when they respect that you will notice if they dont. people will perform for you if you treat them well. lose one or the other of those two things and they will not perform. it is common sense. do your job and i will take care of you. dont do your job and i will be upset with you.
common sense. rules are rules.
but it means that you have to be a little hard once in a while.
and a little soft less often.
seems like we are all soft these days.
some of us say whatever we want. say it to whomever we want. say it because we just want anything we think is fun or nice to be ok with everybody around us.
some of us keep our mouths shut because everytime we say something; somebody else gets offended and says angry things.
the other night i said i was done staying quiet. want to know where i stand? here you go.
- You shall have no other gods before Me.
- You shall make no idols.
- You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
- Keep the Sabbath day holy.
- Honor your father and your mother.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet.
that is what i look to. not to the constitution. not to the law of the country that i am watching fall apart.
One Nation. Under God. With Liberty and Justice for All.
but we wont allow the pledge in schools anymore because it says God. fair enough. but mark my words. the point at which we break commandment #1 is the beginning of the end for this country.
how many of you just scrolled up to see what the first commandment was?
to be honest, reading it back, i did too.
thats a shame. when we cannot simply remember #1.
we are no longer United.
we no longer allow Liberty.
we no longer ensure that Justice is done
and we certainly no longer consider ourselves to be Under God.
and we are unhinged. completely unhinged.
and the door is quickly slamming shut.
